What other IDs are accepted?

I was disturbed to read the report that the local council requires someone to prove their ID for voting registration and hope that the suggestion that they must provide a passport are untrue.

Not everybody travels overseas so not everybody has a passport.

It isn’t a legal requirement to have one.

What do people in this position do? Provide a driving licence?

Trouble is, not everybody drives so, again, not everybody has a driving licence.

Again, it’s not a legal requirement to have one.

There are plenty of people who have neither.

What else does the council accept as proof of identity?
