Why isn’t land protected?

Sidley residents are understandably concerned over the plans to make a loop road around the village to the Ninfield Road.

Sidley traders having lost income with the building of the bridge will lose out yet again.

Following the news of the ‘urban city’ that is to be built, why is it necessary to build on the only open space (Gullivers Sports Ground)? This area means much more than ‘just a field’ to the people of Sidley, it was the heart of the community! I was around when the ground was sold for a nominal fee by the farmer whose land it belonged to.

This transaction was made on the condition that it was used for recreational purposes ie sports ground, and never to be built on.

Whatever became of the documentation? Was it conveniently mislaid? Destroyed?
