Ashburnham set for bumper triathlon

The second Sussex Triathlon Festival takes place this weekend at Ashburnham Place near Battle.

Six hundred athletes from across the UK and Europe will compete over two days in what is one of the most scenic yet challenging triathlons in the country.

Race organisers, TL Sports Events, are delighted to be able to put on this sell-out event in such a fantastic location. The stunning grounds of Ashburnham Place provide a perfect backdrop for the event.

Competitors will begin their races with an open water swim in the Ashburnham Lake, followed by a picturesque but challenging bike course in the local country lanes and finishing with a trail run in the grounds of Ashburnham Place.

The festival offers athletes of all abilities the chance to race over a variety of distances. The Standard Distance race (1,500m swim/40K bike/10K run) gets the weekend’s racing under way tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 8am, with the shorter Sprint Distance race (750m swim/20K bike/5K run) the first to get under way on Sunday at 8am.

New this year is the Middle Distance race, which takes place on Sunday at 8.45am and provides athletes with a real endurance challenge, including a 1,900m swim, an 85K hilly bike ride and a 20K run.
