The Whitefriars Road-based club was supported by more than 200 spectators, who were treated to some great action from the club’s rising stars.

Harrison Brown acquitted himself well in a skills contest, showing some neat and tidy boxing against Andalous Ghourmassi, of London-based club Danson.

Kyla Verlander, 11, also competed in a skills contest against Kaitland Power, of St Mary’s. She showed some great footwork and ring movement, putting on a great display of her talent, much to the delight of her supporters.

Ethan Salmon, 11, was involved in the first competitive bout of the evening and it was a great contest against Joseph Abercrombie, of Westree. Both boys battled through all three rounds in an exciting contest which was given to Salmon on a split decision as he was the better boxer going forward and landed the more telling shots.

George Filkins, 14, boxed superbly against Archie Bye, of Kemsing, completely dominating the bout with some great attacking combinations and relentless pressure. Filkins was the unanimous victor on all of the judges’ scorecards.

Toby Salmon, 13, won a split decision against Jake Rodda, of Smallholdings ABC, to make it back-to-back victories. The ever-improving Salmon’s workrate and classy shots proved the difference between the two boxers.

Liam Holden also won on a split decision, against Southampton’s John Ward. Holden boxed clever and didn’t allow himself to get caught up in a slugging match, instead keeping a high guard and working from behind it.

Will Badrock, 14, was up next against a taller opponent for the first time in Leon Dunlop, of Chalveden in Essex. Despite taking a couple of heavy shots at the outset, Badrock quickly asserted himself and unleashed some great combinations of long accurate punches which led to the referee stopping the fight in his favour, earning him a TKO victory.

Richard Harffey, 15, was very unlucky to find himself on the wrong end of a split decision - which many of the spectators didn’t agree with - after a typically gritty performance.

On to the West Hill seniors and Connor Sime took a unanimous decision against Jacob Potts, of Felbridge. Sime was competing in his first bout of the season, but showed no signs of ring rust and was by far the stronger boxer.

Niall Gray kept up the winning ways with a split points win over Jack Frank, of Chalvedon. Gray looked impressive from the start and never let his opponent get inside him.

Carmine Di Paolo unanimously beat Nathen Wilson, of Smallholdings, in a non-stop, all action bout that was real crowd pleaser.

West Hill’s Ben White and Brighton’s Harlem Eubank were both disqualified by the referee in an ill-tempered bout which saw Eubank as the main protagonist and White responding to some unsporting gestures by the Brighton boxer.

The penultimate bout of the evening saw West Hill’s Nathan Stent relinquish his 100% winning record against big hitting Ricky Smith, of Ramsgate.

Shaun Attrell, of West Hill, defended his welterweight Southern Counties Belt against challenger Billy Allington, of Woking, in the final bout of the evening and main event.

After a scrappy beginning, Attrell’s class began to show through. He grew in confidence and began to pick his opponent off, landing some good combinations of head and body shots on his way to a unanimous victory and retained his belt.

Attrell was voted best senior boxer of the show and best junior boxer went to Badrock.

West Hill would like to thank everyone who contributed to making the evening a great success. The club will be holding its final show of the season on Saturday May 2 at the same venue.
