Finch seals Sussex Academy place

A prodigious young talent from Hastings Priory Cricket Club will be part of the Sussex Academy intake for 2011.

Harry Finch is one of six newcomers to the set-up announced on Monday who join the four retained players from last year.

Although still only 15-years-old, Finch established himself as a batsman of huge potential with his displays in the Premier Division of the Sussex League last summer.

Under the captaincy of his dad Jason, Finch was Priory’s fourth highest 1st XI runscorer with 400 runs from 19 innings at an average of 23.53.

He compiled four half-centuries with a best of 69 not out in Priory’s memorable 41-run victory at home to eventual champions Preston Nomads. Finch, who also bowls right-arm medium-fast, captains the Sussex under-17 side.

Finch, Georgia Adams (daughter of ex-Sussex captain Chris Adams), Matthew Hobden, Callum Jackson, Tim Moses and Abidine Sakande will join John Glover, Owain Jones, Jack Parsons and Hannah Phelps in the Academy set-up.
