The three-wicket win at bottom club Worthing was Priory’s fourth consecutive success in all competitions and, remarkably, their fifth away league triumph on the trot.

Worthing elected to bat on winning the toss, but must have been regretting that decision as they quickly slumped to 11-3. John Morgan made the initial breakthrough and Freddie Hulbert followed that with two victims, including Worthing captain Darryl Rebbetts for a golden duck.

Morgan struck again by bowling Alex Harris with the score 60 and 11 runs later claimed the big wicket of Sussex professional and former Priory player Matt Machan for 41 off 40 balls.

Wickets fell steadily rather than quickly thereafter as Worthing were all out for 166 in the 42nd over. Morgan finished with 4-68 off 14 overs and Elliot Hooper picked up 3-29 from 9.5. The other wicket was a Byron Gould run out.

Priory began their reply well enough until losing both openers with the score 28. Dave Lowery for once fell early to make it 37-3 and when Gould departed 11 runs later, the visitors looked to be in a spot of bother.

But a fifth wicket partnership of 63 between Leo Cammish (37) and Adam Maharaj-Newman (35) was exactly what Priory needed. Away skipper George Campbell chipped in with an important 29 and although he fell with two needed, Hulbert (19 not out) and Hooper got Priory over the line.
