Priory ace stars for England academy

The squad contested two Twenty20 games and one 50-over match at the National Cricket Performance Centre at Loughborough University.

Carla said: “When I found out that I had been selected to play in the Pakistan series, I was extremely happy. Years of training has required lots of commitment and its great that the hard work is now paying off.

“Putting on the England kit and taking my first wicket for England has filled me with immense pride, and I would like to thank Hastings Priory CC and all the coaches that have worked with me for their continued support.”

Carla has played all her club cricket for Hastings Priory Ladies. Having initially been a talented footballer on the books of Brighton & Hove Albion, she joined Priory as a 10-year-old and took to cricket immediately.

A hard hitting wicketkeeper/batsman, Carla represented Sussex at all junior age group levels before going on to play her senior cricket for Berkshire.

During all this time Carla has always played for Priory Girls whenever possible and was a pivotal part of the team that enjoyed successive league promotions from 2009-2011.

Her work ethic has always been superb and along with support from her parents, Carla has always been determined to get to the top in her chosen sport.

Carla has played 65 games for Priory Ladies, scoring more than 1,400 runs at an average of 35 including seven fifties and three hundreds. She has also taken 22 catches and nine stumpings, and was voted the club’s ladies’ player of the year in 2010.
