Priory target historic cup win

Priory will face local rivals Eastbourne in the Gray-Nicolls Sussex T20 Cup final at Hove tomorrow (Sunday) seeking to win the county knockout competition for the first time since 1996 (when ironically they beat Eastbourne) and fourth in total.

Priory captain George Campbell said: “It’s going to be a good occasion; we’re thoroughly looking forward to it. It’s going to be great and against local rivals Eastbourne as well there’s always a bit of bragging rights so it should be a good day.”

Horntye Park Sports Complex-based Priory are in with a genuine chance of finishing second in the Sussex Premier League, while Eastbourne are top of Division Two. The match will start at 3.30pm.

“I think they’re quite suited to the T20 format,” continued Campbell. “They’ve got some powerful hitters and some very good bowlers. I take them exceptionally seriously. I think they will be a very good side and we will certainly have to be on our mettle to get a win.”
