Seaford's young cricketers enjoy festival fun

Festival week is traditionally one of the most exciting weeks that Seaford Cricket Club juniors look forward to during the long summer break.

Families even arrange their holidays so their children can take part. With lockdown and Covid-19 upon us this year, it looked like the event would be cancelled.

However, new government guidelines and then the go-ahead announcement from the ECB in July, the Seaford club and committee worked extremely hard to put in place all the necessary steps and were able to tell their young aspiring cricketers their week would in fact go ahead.

The week did not disappoint, with glorious sun shining on all four days and games being played at The Salts recreation ground plus visits to Eastbourne and Brighton.

Several new players have joined the growing squad this year and all have said how welcome they’ve been made to feel and are enjoying the new friendships and banter with existing team players.

Seaford Cricket Club is all about developing cricketing skills, having fun and making life-long friendships.

Their final game brought a win for Seaford on what was the hottest day of the year so far, and it ended with a celebratory fish and chip supper on the lawn together with the sound of lively chatter and laughter reflecting on the week’s events.
