Priory triumphed by 88 runs to make it three Sussex Premier League wins out of three in completed matches on home turf this summer.

Gillespie said: “Nomads are a team with real pedigree so to force victory against was fantastic and thoroughly deserved. They were one or two players short of a full strength team, but a lot of their key players were there and they put us in to bat so to come from that position to win was fantastic.”

Priory posted 183-7 with the bat before bowling Nomads out for just 95 in reply.

“It was a very competitive total on that wicket,” added Gillespie. “The wicket was slow after the rain and the outfield was unusually slow, which made batting hard work.

“All credit to Tom (Gillespie) and Josh (Hahnel) for getting us moving, and it was fantastic to see Harry (Scowen) get his maiden fifty. The partnerships he had with Elliot (Hooper) and John Morgan were really encouraging.

“It was just a fantastic performance by the bowlers and they bowled as a unit. Adam Barton bowled a very aggressive spell, Brad Payne got the ball to swing and we got them on the back foot with early wickets. Then our spinners came to the party and Barts came back to finish it off.”
