Exciting finish to bowls tournament

THE finals of the 42nd Bexhill Ladies' Open Bowls Tournament were played at the Polegrove Greens in brilliant sunshine on Saturday.

All the games were close but victory in the singles went to Lorraine Hume who narrowly beat Helen Jennings 21-17. Hume also triumphed in the pairs in tandem with Linda Nye, scoring a 20-17 win over the partnership of Lorraine Kemp and Marion Boswell.

The mixed pairs was won by Wendy and Ron Aylward who defeated Ann and Gordon Hamilton 20-13.

Rother District Council chairman David Vereker presented the trophies in front of a large and appreciative crowd.

Next year's tournament will be on July 25-30 and entry forms are available by telephoning 734335 or 842090.
