The captain and long United servant has signed on for the 2021-22 season - joining a host of other players who have already agreed to stay with the club.

Adams equalled Terry White’s record 569 appearances for the Us last season and is poised to become the all-time record appearance holder as they kick off next season in August.

Adams, who is set for a testimonial in the summer, said: "I’m delighted to stay on for another season as we have unfinished business and I want to be a part of this team for as long as I can.

"Aggy and his staff have done a great job getting this squad together and I can’t wait to get back on the pitch at home, The Pilot Field. Let’s hope we can finish the upcoming season and achieve what we set out two years ago. I love this club and proud to represent my hometown.”

Manager Chris Agutter said: “Sammy is a club legend and all the time wants to play and lead the team it’s my privilege to be able to pick him, that’s something I’ve said repeatedly and stand by it.

"Every year someone always says it’s probably Sammy’s last year and every year he delivers. Only Kenny Pogue was ahead of Sam in the scoring and assist charts last year, this says everything about Sammy’s endless contribution to Hastings United on the pitch, let alone off it.”

Club CEO Billy Wood described Adams as a 'unique selling point' for Hastings. “When building a club’s presence you look for unique selling points, a unique value to what the club is and how it’s represented, Sammy Adams is that.

"To equal Terry White’s appearance record in our last game v Aveley was nothing short of remarkable for a player of his quality in non-league, whilst Sam has had a few stints at other clubs there is no denying his love for Hastings United.

"It’s hard to label a player who has yet to retire as one, but there is no denying Sam Adams is a legend not only for this club, but for Hastings as a town.

"We are delighted to honour his contribution to the club this summer with his testimonial and I know he will be raring to go next season, not only set to break to record but add as many games as possible as he chases down 600 appearances.”

Details of the testimonial are expected soon.
