Basement boys await United

Hastings United have a golden opportunity to nudge themselves up the table tonight (Tuesday).

The U’s will entertain bottom-of-the-table Leatherhead in the Ryman Football League Premier Division. Kick-off at The Pilot Field is 7.45pm.

United are 16th with nine points from eight league games, while Leatherhead, promoted via the Division One South play-offs last season, have mustered just a solitary point from the same number of matches.

Leatherhead lost 1-0 at home to high-riding Canvey Island on Saturday, while United fought out a 1-1 draw away to Harrow Borough with Ross Sutton scoring their goal.

Elsewhere tonight, Sidley United will be eager to end a run of four straight defeats when they entertain fellow Sussex County League Division One side East Grinstead Town in round one of the Sussex Senior Cup. Kick-off at Gullivers is 7.30pm.

And Bexhill United will host Westfield in an attractive-looking Sussex Division Two derby. Kick-off at The Polegrove is 7.45pm.

Bexhill joint managers Darrol Parris and Jamie Podmore spent many years at Westfield, and several players on either side will be up against their former clubs.

The results and scorers will appear on this website tomorrow morning.
