After their FA Vase second round qualifying defeat at home to Rochester United on Saturday, the Pirates will entertain Hassocks in round one of the Sussex Senior Cup.

Bexhill - who are seventh in Macron Store Sussex County Football League Division Two - will be aiming to spring a surprise against a Hassocks side lying fourth-from-bottom of Division One.

Victory over higher grade opposition would be the perfect antidote to a sudden run of three consecutive defeats, all of them at The Polegrove.

Bexhill’s six-match unbeaten start to their league campaign was based around a solid defensive record of just four goals conceded, but they’ve suddenly shipped nine goals in their last two outings.

Hassocks will make the trip east buoyed by their FA Vase victory at home to Broadbridge Heath on Saturday, which ended a run of two draws and seven losses in their previous nine matches in all competitions.

Kick-off is 7.45pm and if you can’t make it to the game, you can get goal updates by following @SimonNewstead on social media site Twitter.
