Bexhill defender joins Common

Little Common have bolstered their squad ahead of the coming football season with the capture of Josh Elliott-Noye.

The defender was a key figure in last season’s Bexhill United side and will doubtless be similarly influential as Common seek another lofty finish in Sussex County League Division Two.

Common player-manager Russell Eldridge said: “I’m really pleased. He’s someone I’ve been after for a little while. His attitude and effort have been spot on, and he’s going to be a fantastic acquisition for us.”

Charlie Bachellier, who was on the fringes of things at Hastings United last term, has also moved to the Recreation Ground.

“He’s been with us previously and he’s a young player with lots of potential; we just need to get him playing football again,” continued Eldridge, who was hoping to get a couple more players in this week. “He’s very versatile and he’s going to be a really good asset to us.”

Last season’s leading scorer Jamie Crone is trying his luck with Hastings, however, and Dominic Cruttenden and Zack McEniry have been training and playing for Rye United.

Common continued their friendlies with a double header against Seaford Town on Saturday. They lost the first game 3-2 despite a couple of cracking 25-yard strikes from Jared Lusted and Nick Richardson, and drew the second match 3-3 with goals from Oscar Hammond, Liam Hudson and Adam Smith.

Next up is a trip to AFC Uckfield on Tuesday night before a meeting with Beckenham Town the following Saturday. Common will begin their league programme, meanwhile, with a trip to Oakwood on Saturday August 10.
