Chris Cumming-Bart struck twice and Andy Garman once on Bank Holiday Monday as Bexhill won 3-1 away to a Saltdean United side which beat them three times last season.

Bexhill fielded a much-changed team from that which took on Faversham Town in the FA Cup two days previously and fell behind inside eight minutes when the unmarked Damon Pollard slotted home at a corner.

Bexhill dominated the Macron Store Southern Combination Football League Division One fixture thereafter. Saltdean opted to play a high defensive line, and the pace of Cumming-Bart and Garman gave them plenty of problems as a result.

Cumming-Bart netted on 26 and 36 minutes to give Bexhill a half time lead. He reacted quickest to pick up the pieces after a goalkeeping save for one of them and the other was a good finish following a lovely pass by Garman.

Bexhill remained on top during the second half, but needed a third goal to kill the game off and with the heavy rain now having stopped, Garman duly provided it just after the hour mark.

The pacy wide player had already been denied by home goalkeeper Jamie Evans from two one-on-one situations, but made it third time lucky when he raced clear of the last defender and delightfully dinked the ball over Evans as he came out.
