And for Bexhill United - who are leading the SCFL Division One table - it is a disappointment given what they and other clubs have done to make their clubs safe.

Light told us: "Obviously myself and everyone at the club are extremely disappointed to have to stop playing at this stage as everything has gone like clock work both on and off the pitch since we returned from the last lockdown.

"Football aside the amount of work that has gone into making football COVID safe at our level by volunteers not only at The Polegrove but at every away ground we’ve visited has been nothing short of miraculous.

"Right through the club it’s been an excellent start to the season with the first team, u23s, and U18s all doing fantastically well in their respective leagues, so obviously you want to keep playing, but I do understand that things seem to be getting worse again so hopefully this short break will bring things back down to a level that allows us to get back by early December and finish the season."

And Light has plans for his team during the lockdown. He said: "We will be setting the players their own fitness plans so we can hopefully return in even better shape and more importantly try to avoid any injuries once we do return to action."
