Victory in the FA Trophy in midweek would have taken the Sports to Dartford tomorrow for the next round, but instead the players have a weekend off.

Danny Bloor may slot in a friendly next week, but then Boxing Day is free. They then host Maidstone on Monday, December 28.

“We will train as normal, but we have the benefit of a mid-season mini-break,” Bloor said.

“We can get the knocks and injuries sorted out, re-charge the batteries and be raring to go again.”

Borough, who drew 2-2 at Concord last Saturday, have so far taken National South in their stride – and perhaps taken some outside observers by surprise – with 20 points from 13 games.

In a quite open division this season, they can be play-off contenders.

When Maidstone visit, home fans will have Priory Lane to themselves under current National League rules, and supporters can pre-book tickets online or at the club office.

* There was frustration on Wednesday night for the Borough under-18s, who travelled to MK Dons for their second round FA Youth Cup tie, only to find the pitch waterlogged.

Sas Parsad’s talented youngsters had got through with an impressive 1-0 victory over Kent outfit K Sports last Friday. A crowd of 200-plus cheered the under-18s as they saw off the feisty challengers, with centre-forward Jacob Minty’s first-half header clinching it.
