Bourne stays on at Sidley

Gavin Bourne is the first Sidley United player to put pen to paper ahead of the coming season.

The goalkeeper, who is understood to have attracted interest from at least one other local club, will remain with the team where he performed very well during the second half of last season.

Sidley manager John Lambert, who is working towards an FA level two coaching qualification, hopes to start obtaining more signatures next week.

Lambert expects just about all of the 2010/11 squad to remain on board with the possible exception of Terry Payne, and Little Common strikers Lewis Hole and Steve Morris could well be on their way.

Sussex County Football League Division One side Sidley, who are still on the lookout for a new reserve team boss, will begin pre-season training on Saturday at St Mary’s Lane, meeting at 1.30pm for a 2pm start. Subsequent sessions will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm at the same venue.
