Carey receives top player prize

Lee Carey was the clear winner of Hastings United supporters’ player of the year award.

The midfielder, who has enjoyed probably his best season in Hastings colours, received the shield before the match against Metropolitan Police on Saturday.

Carey, 24, made a total of 47 appearances - second only to skipper Josh Jirbandey - and was the third top scorer with five goals.

The goal of the season was won by Scott Manning for his stunning volley on the turn from the edge of the box in the 2-0 win at home to Lowestoft Town on February 28.
