Chandler set for Sidley return

Mark Chandler appears to be on his way back to Sidley United less than a month after leaving for Bexhill United.

The defender, pictured, has told Sussex County Football League Division Two outfit Bexhill of his intention to return to Division One neighbours Sidley.

Sidley manager John Lambert said: “He decided it’s not for him (at Bexhill) and he missed us as a club. He got in touch with me at the weekend and said ‘is it alright if I come back’? I’ve got no qualms about him coming back, I didn’t really want him to leave in the first place.”

Chandler, who can play at right-back or in the centre of defence, has made four appearances for Bexhill, and has suffered concussion, a broken nose and a kidney infection during an eventful four weeks at The Polegrove.

Bexhill joint manager Jamie Podmore said: “He said it’s not that he didn’t want to be at Bexhill, but he couldn’t not be at Sidley.”

FA rules dictate that players must be registered at a club for 28 days before returning to a previous outfit and Chandler’s four weeks are due to be up today (Friday).
