The Worthing United players were killed in the Shoreham Airshow crash in August and a game will take place at Lyons Way on Sunday, November 8, between a Worthing United Select team and a Sussex County Nomads side.

It will be the first time in four years a charity game has been organised by Nomad Forum and event organiser Geoff Anscombe said: “We are hoping to set up a raffle, Brighton have agreed to donate the match ball from their game with Milton Keynes Dons and a penalty shoot-out and cross bar challenge are all scheduled.

“Obviously, after what happened at the Shoreham Airshow, I felt it was important to try to organise a charity game.

“These days are usually very fun occasions, with a number of current and former Sussex county players facing off against each other.”

Worthing United vice-chairman Mark Sanderson believes it will be a great occasion and said: “It’s great that Geoff has decided to set this charity game up.

“It will see a lot of former players joining together for the game and funds raised will go to a fund in Matt and Jacob’s memory.”
