Common & Bexhill win again

Bexhill United and Little Common continued their fine starts to the season by winning again on Saturday.

Common came from behind to triumph 2-1 away to Wick in round two of the Sussex County Football League Division Two Challenge Cup, while Bexhill prevailed 5-2 at home to Southwick in Division Two.

Bexhill actually fell behind to a free kick in the first three minutes, but Andy Garman soon levelled and Steve Morris put them ahead.

Two Danny Turner goals - making it three in two games since his elevation to the front side - made it 4-1 at half time. Morris added his second and 10th of the season before Southwick nabbed a consolation.

Common, meanwhile, didn’t produce a vintage performance and a Wick side which was much-improved from the one Common beat 4-0 on the opening day of the season took a 13th minute lead through Michael Frangou.

Hole equalised six minutes later from Anthony Cooper’s through ball, and grabbed the winner 18 minutes from time by latching onto a delightful ball from Russell Eldridge, turning a defender and drilling into the bottom corner.

Elsewhere, Westfield saw their interest in this season’s county knockout competitions come to an end following a 2-0 loss away to Loxwood in round two of the Division Two Challenge Cup.
