Common miss out on Borough tie

Little Common missed out on a plum tie at home to Eastbourne Borough in the Sussex Senior Cup.

A second round match against the Blue Square Premier big guns was up for grabs in the all-Sussex County League Division Two first round game between Mile Oak and Common on Wednesday night.

And although Common took a half time lead from a free kick, Oak turned the game on its head in the second half with a wonder goal from around 40 yards and a penalty to run out 2-1 winners.

It was Common’s third consecutive defeat in all competitions (the first was also away to Mile Oak in the John O’Hara League Cup) - their worst run since returning to senior football at the start of last season.

A full report and reaction will appear in tomorrow’s Bexhill Observer.
