Draws on the doors for local clubs

It was a day of draws for the area’s Sussex County Football League clubs on Saturday.

The matches involving Rye United, Sidley United, Bexhill United and Little Common all ended with honours even, while Westfield suffered a home defeat.

FA Vase quarter-finalists Rye needed a second half equaliser from Scott Ramsay to salvage a 1-1 draw away to third-placed Pagham in Division One.

In the same division, Sidley fought out a drab 0-0 with Shoreham at Gullivers. Both sides had a goal disallowed during the second half, but neither looked like winning.

Bexhill United’s match away to Rustington in Division Two ended in an identical scoreline, meaning Gerard Moyse’s side loses ground in the promotion race.

Little Common’s game at Littlehampton Town ended 1-1 with Chas Lister on target for Common, while Westfield went down 3-1 at home to Mile Oak despite David Pugh scoring his 28th goal of the season.

Full reports on each of these games will appear in Friday’s Observers.
