Five-star Sidley scatter Crows

Sidley United moved into the top six courtesy of a 5-2 win at home to Crowborough Athletic last night (Tuesday).

The Blues effectively had the Sussex County Football League Division One fixture won in the first 33 minutes, by which time they had opened up a four-goal lead.

Scott McDonald and Casey Ham put them two-up in the first seven minutes, a bizarre Tom Boddy own goal made it three and Lewis Hole rolled home the fourth.

Crowborough struck the crossbar twice either side of half time and substitute George Callingham pulled a couple of goals back during the closing quarter.

Sam White, pictured, tapped in Sidley’s fifth in between Crowborough’s goals. The gloss was taken off Sidley’s win by Paddy Cody being stretchered off with a knee injury.

Elsewhere, Little Common lost 7-1 away to higher grade Eastbourne Borough in round three of the Sussex Senior Cup. Callum Wooller netted the consolation.

Full reports on both matches and reaction will appear in Friday’s Bexhill Observer.
