The four-day course was a complete sellout and attracted record numbers of boys and girls, with more than 60 children a day in attendance.

Run by course director Tim Brown and his team of coachesm drawn from the first team and youth section of the club, the youngsters enjoyed being finally back out on the pitch, making new friends and being coached by Boro first team players such as Dan Blackmore and Matt Pickering.

Brown said:“The moment we started advertising our latest course, our new online booking system went into overdrive – the uptake was tremendous! It was especially exciting to see such a huge number of girl’s attending this time round which we hope to build upon.”

Covid rules were in place to ensure age groups stayed in bubbles all week, players were temperature checked before entry and coaches were regularly swab-tested for the virus.

As the sun shone, the players enjoyed a mixture of fun and skill based activities, culminating in course certificates and club goody bags being handed out – and there were player of the week trophies for some from Boro boss Danny Bloor.

Brown added: “It was definitely the most enjoyable course I’ve ever had the privilege to run at the club. I’m already looking forward to seeing everyone again at our next course on June 1 and 2.”
