The U’s produced a dominant second half display to run out 4-0 winners away to Redhill in Ryman Football League Division One South - four days after losing by the same score at home to Guernsey.

United enjoyed most of the early possession and Frankie Sawyer fired over from eight yards after 15 minutes. The visitors then had a lucky escape when a Redhill forward failed to find an empty net, but took a 25th minute lead when Josh Jirbandey headed home a Sam Adams corner - his first goal since recently returning to the club.

Sawyer came close to doubling United’s advantage following a fine pass by Tom Vickers, but Redhill carried a threat on the break and Ben Judge came to United’s rescue with a goal-line clearance from one such attack.

The second half was all United, though, and three goals in little more than a quarter-of-an-hour after the restart put the result beyond doubt on a very soft and muddy Kiln Brow pitch.

Tim Olorunda got a touch to a Vickers free kick to make it 2-0 in the 49th minute and Olorunda promptly added a third United goal by blasting a loose ball into the net from 12 yards.

Sawyer then unselfishly played in strike partner Pogue for number four on the hour as United matched their 4-0 victory over Faversham Town in a Robert Dyas League Cup tie during the autumn.

The visitors, in fact, came close to a fifth when Pogue teed up substitute Trevor McCreadie to strike the crossbar. It was United’s first win in just three away league fixtures since the end of November.
