Goals galore on opening day

The ADA East Sussex Football League got off to a blistering start on Saturday, with 184 goals scored in just 35 matches played - an average of more than five goals a game!

Reigning champions Hollington United started their campaign at home to Rock-a-Nore, eventually winning 2-1.

In an entertaining match, Shane Ryan put United ahead in the first-half and netted a second after half-time before Billy Warnes scored an own goal for the Rocks.

Hooe Sports enjoyed their new life in the Premier Division with a solid 2-0 victory at home to Iden. Dean Phillips hit the opener with a stunning volley and added the second from the penalty spot.

Peche Hill Select and St Leonards Social were involved in an incident-packed 1-1 draw at Tilekiln. Kieren Martin put the home side ahead from the penalty spot in the first half, and when the visitors had a player sent off with a half-hour to go, it seemed that the game was up for Social. However, showing grit and determination they took the game to Select, with Terry Smith eventually hitting their equaliser in the 80th minute.

Ninfield United won 4-0 at White Knight through two goals apiece from Dave Carey and Alex Williams. The home side missed a penalty.
