The footballers of Hastings United and Little Common are set for action tonight (Tuesday).
Hastings are at home to East Grinstead Town in Ryman Football League Division One South and Common will make the long journey to Chichester City for a Sussex Principal RUR Charity Cup quarter-final.
After their 3-2 loss at home to Dorking Wanderers on Saturday, Hastings will be determined to pick up a victory which would lift them four places into the top 10.
Grinstead are in 20th place and have lost five of their last six matches, although four of those defeats have come against teams in the top six of the table.
Hastings are currently eight points outside the play-off spots having played between three and six games fewer than every other club in the division. Kick-off at The Pilot Field is 7.45pm.
Little Common, meanwhile, will hope to play their cup tie at the third attempt. Common were originally the home team, but two postponements in December meant the venue was switched to Chichester.
Common are fifth in Macron Store Southern Combination Football League Division One and a big task awaits them against a Chichester side lying sixth in the Premier Division.
Chichester are unbeaten in their last 10 matches in all competitions stretching back to mid-October and haven’t conceded a single goal in their most recent four fixtures.
Common are in pretty good form themselves, though, having won all of their last three and six of their last seven games in all competitions. They’ve also won seven of their nine cup ties so far this season.
The Commoners will be without Dave Ammoun and player-manager Russell Eldridge, both of whom are serving a one-match suspension, for a game which will kick-off at 7.30pm. The winners will face Lancing in the semi-finals.
* Hastings United are running a coach to their game away to Whitstable Town this coming Saturday, departing The Pilot Field at 11.30am.
The cost is £12 for adults, with a £2 discount for supporters’ club members, and £5 for under-18s. Call Dave Russell on 07970 332270 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to save a place.
