The playing surface at the TEC Stadium failed an 11.45am inspection and the Ryman Football League Division One South fixture was called-off more than 24 hours before it was due to take place.

United have now had seven postponements and an abandonment because of the weather since mid-December, and the number of available midweek slots for rearranged dates is fast decreasing. Fourth-placed United still have 20 league games to play before the season’s end on April 26.

Elsewhere, a 9am pitch inspection has been arranged for Bexhill United’s scheduled visit from Broadbridge Heath in Sussex County Football League Division Two. Little Common’s game at home to Mile Oak in the same division is in serious doubt with water laying on the surface this morning.

Further postponement news will follow in due course as the prospect of another weekend with little or no football looks highly likely.
