United manager John Maggs watched Guernsey win 3-0 at Burgess Hill Town on Wednesday to go ninth in Ryman Football League Division One South, five places and three points behind United having played an extra game.

Before that match, he said: “I would think we’ve got a difficult game on our hands and we will need to be on the money to get a result.”

Jamie Crone is due to return from holiday this evening and should make the squad, as will Bailo Camara having trained on Tuesday. Tom Gilbert is doubtful having not trained this week, while Tom O’Connor is unlikely to be fit. Sean Ray hadn’t trained as of the middle of this week.

Elsewhere today, Rye United will play their first home match of the Sussex County League Division One season against Lingfield. Rye are third in the table with 10 points from five games and have won their last three league matches.

Little Common will be eager to end a run of three straight defeats in all competitions when they welcome AFC Uckfield to the Recreation Ground in Division Two.

Bexhill United will be looking to make it five games without defeat as they travel to Loxwood in the same division, while Westfield will be targeting their first victory of the Division Two campaign at Oakwood.
