Hastings set for Carshalton test

Hastings United's footballers will return to league action with an important game away to Carshalton Athletic today (Saturday).

After back-to-back cup games over the past week, United will resume their Ryman Football League Division One South campaign against the only side in the division with a better goal difference than themselves.

Carshalton occupy the final play-off spot of fifth having picked up 30 points from their first 15 matches, the latest of which was a 5-0 thrashing of Walton Casuals on Monday night.

United are eight places and nine points below their opponents having played three fewer fixtures, and they will be keen to improve an away record which reads one win, two draws and three defeats.

Sonny Dullaway is expected to retain his place in the squad after impressing as a substitute in the Parafix Sussex Senior Challenge Cup defeat to Three Bridges on Tuesday.

Full-back Stephen Butcher is around a week from fitness, but the rest of the squad should be okay. Bright Temba has now left the club.

Elsewhere today, Bexhill United are at home to St Francis Rangers and Little Common entertain Mile Oak in Macron Store Southern Combination Football League Division One.

Westfield will host Upper Beeding in a Division Two Challenge Cup first round tie. That match will kick-off at 1.30pm, while the others will start at 3pm.
