The U’s will face Corinthian-Casuals twice in the next four days. The away fixture is first up today (Saturday) followed by the return game at home on Tuesday (kick-off 7.45pm).

Casuals have tweeted this morning that the game will go ahead. The groundsman has looked at the pitch and it looks fine despite the heavy overnight rain.

“We’ve got two tough games coming up,” said United manager Garry Wilson. “Corinthian are a decent side and had a good run in the FA Trophy. I know one or two of their players and rate them quite highly.”

Five wins in their last six matches have lifted United up to seventh in Ryman League Division One South - just two points and two places outside the play-offs with between two and five games in hand on everybody else.

Casuals are also in contention for a play-off spot. They trail United by three points and four places having played two extra matches.

Wilson said it now looks unlikely that United will be signing the midfielder he was tracking last week, but he is still keen to strengthen.

He said: “What we’ve got I’m really happy with. The group’s really tight-knit at the moment and we have to be careful we don’t upset that. We just maybe need another body or two.”

United are running a coach to today’s match, departing The Pilot Field at 11.30am. The cost is £12 for adults, with a £2 discount for supporters’ club members, and £5 for under-18s. Call Dave Russell on 07970 332270 or email [email protected]
