The U’s have announced the signing of Jay May on an initial one-month loan from Maidstone United and the player will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s (Saturday’s) league season opener at home to South Park, kick off 3pm.

Thirty-year-old May has twice won promotion to National League South, firstly with Billericay Town in 2012 and then with Maidstone in 2015. He was also part of the Maidstone squad which clinched promotion to the National League last season.

May has also played for Ramsgate, Dartford, Tonbridge Angels and Bromley, and will give another option to a United attacking line-up also featuring Jack Harris, Harry Stannard, Frannie Collin and Bright Temba, the latter two of whom have been struggling with injury of late.

After an encouraging pre-season campaign, United will kick-off their Ryman Football League Division One South programme tomorrow with high hopes of mounting a strong challenge for promotion.
