Brighton make the trip to league leaders Hull with the table-toppers having won five of their last six league encounters.

However, Hughton’s side go into the game on the back of four straight successes after they saw off Bolton 3-2 at the Amex on Saturday.

Albion’s fine recent form has seen them close the gap on tomorrow’s opponents to just three points but Hughton believes his side will need to be at their best if they are to take any points. He said: “We certainly won’t be going to them with a negative frame of mind.

“We are very conscious that they are a good side and scoring lots of goals at the minute. Defensively we are going to have to be good but if you go their with a negative attitude you are setting yourself up to get beat.

“It’s a game we need to participate in and do the best we can to try and win it.”

Tuesday’s tussle sees first play fourth and Hughton has been delighted with his squad’s response of late but knows Hull will provide them with another tough challenge.

He added: “I think we’ve deserved to be where we are and I think we’ve showed great character to come through that difficult period to get back to winning ways again.

“Hull are the best team in the division at the minute and I think their league position shows that. I hope it’s a game that matches both our forms of late.

“We have been good away from home, perhaps we haven’t got the wins we would like, but we have just lost once away.”
