It looks inevitable that clubs in Steps 5 and 6 will have their seasons terminated in the next week - leaving a lot of clubs, managers and players frustrated.

Bexhill United were top of the SCFL Division 1 with an unbeaten start to the season - but now looks like they might have to start again next season - whenever that may be.

Isthmian League board believe season should be terminated - clubs to be consultedThe Pirates boss said: "It’s really frustrating for everyone at the moment not being able to do the thing we love, but with the situation across the country and especially in the south east looking as bleak as it does, we totally understand that staying at home on a Saturday afternoon is the safest place for our players and supporters at this time.

"I don’t think there should be a big rush to cancel everything immediately, nobody’s going anywhere, the numbers on the league tables won’t change and a vaccine is being rolled out so although for planning purposes I understand clubs will want to know, personally I don’t think it’ll hurt to wait a little longer for a more informed decision to be made.

"For many people just the hope of playing football again is what’s keeping them going I’m sure."

And Light believes the clubs should not have a vote on it. "In my opinion whatever they decide to do it should be an FA and SCFL decision," he said: "It shouldn’t be put on the clubs to vote, as everyone will of course have their own agenda and will understandably vote on an outcome that suits their league position.

"I’m confident the powers at be will explore every possible option to finish the season in some form but if time ticks on and this becomes an impossibility then as a club we will re group and I’m sure we will be in good shape to go again at the start of the 21/22 season."
