It was Borough's first action of 2021 but it didn't go to plan as the Stones won by the odd goal in five.

The Sports had a dream start when Joel Rollinson lobs the Maidstone keeper from 20 yards just four minutes in. But Stones levelled on 11 minutes when Charlie Seaman found himself in space at the far post and his half volley went straight into the ground and bounced into the far corner.

Three minutes later from a Sports corner, the Stones counter-attacked at pace and Joan Luque was on hand from two yards to smash the into the empty net.

The goals kept coming and just before the half-hour ir was 2-2 as Charley Kendall beat his man out wide and his low cross found Chris Whelpdale at the back post to slam home the equaliser.

Two minutes into the second half Stones got what proved the winner. George Porter made enough space to get a cross in and Rendell rose highest to head home from close range.

Despite their efforts, Bloor's men could not find an equaliser.

Borough are next in action at home to Slough on Saturday week, January 23.
