Price: No Bexhill job offer

Rumours have been doing the rounds for the past week that former Rye United boss Price had been given the chance to take over at The Polegrove even though Darrol Parris is still in the role.

But Price told Observer Sport: “There’s rumours going round everywhere, but I’ve not been offered it and no-one from the club’s been in contact. I’m available I suppose, and people put two and two together.”

Price called time on more than four-and-a-half seasons as Rye boss at the end of last month. The 37-year-old enjoyed considerable success during his time at The Salts, the highlight of which was leading Rye to the FA Vase quarter-finals in 2011.

Rye also won the Sussex RUR Charity Cup for the first time since 1968, clinched the Sussex County Football League Division Two title and recorded back-to-back top three finishes in Division One during Price’s tenure.

When he left Rye, Price said he would definitely like to return to management in the future and has since taken over the running of Hastings United’s under-16 team until the end of the season.

“I didn’t leave Rye because I lost the love of the game,” Price continued. “I’m open-minded about it. I’m quite happy to do the under-16s at the moment, but if the right job became available in the future, I would take it.”

Bexhill chairman Robin Powell also strenuously denied the speculation and insisted that Parris remains in charge of the Sussex Division Two outfit. Parris himself wished not to comment.
