Price: We can do it

The Quarterboys will be heavy underdogs when they travel to much-fancied Kings Lynn Town for an eagerly-anticipated quarter-final which is easily the biggest game in the club’s history.

Price said: “I think you’ve got to (believe that). If I don’t think that, the players will know that. If we play like we did first half against Chalfont (St Peter in a second round replay), I think we’ll win the game. As I’ve said before, it’s going to take a hell of a side to beat us if we play well.”

Both teams are just two stages away from a final at Wembley Stadium. Kings Lynn Town are second in the United Counties League, while Rye are sixth in the equivalent-standing Sussex County League.

“It’s probably going to be our hardest game this season,” continued Price, “but saying that, are they going to be much better than Chalfont? They’re going to be a good side and I expect we’ll be under the cosh for the majority of the game, but as long as we stay solid and make them work for their chances...”

The anticipated 2,000 crowd is something many of the Rye side won’t be used to and Price is looking to his senior players who have that big game experience to help the youngsters cope with it.

Jack Franklin is pushing to start after returning from injury, while the only men definitely out are Ben Radley (suspension), Paul Watson (unavailable) and Luke Woodley (injury).

Rye will again be cheered on by a coach-load of supporters, who although sure to be outnumbered, will no doubt add to the occasion with their array of red and black wigs, balloons, flags etc.
