Ringmer AFC enjoy positive start to new era

Football has made a glorious return to Ringmer AFC as all four sides of the new club start their Mid Sussex League campaigns.

Club officials were delighted to see the sun out and local people present to watch the first and second teams kick off their seasons with home matches at the new and as yet unnamed 3G ground at Kings Academy. And both sides kicked off their campaigns with victory.

In the Mid Sussex Premier Ringmer AFC’s first team won 4-2 against Willingdon Athletic.

Willingdon’s Tom Addems score the first competitive goal at the new ground, but a clinical hat-trick from new signing George Rudwick, three assists from Ben Earle and a tidy finish from Jake Forward won it for Ringmer AFC.

Naim Rouane was the Ringmer MoM and manager Oli Gibson was satisfied with three points against a notoriously strong opponent.

In Division 2 South, Ringmer ‘s second team won 3-1 over Portslade Athletic.

Harry Barnett set up Charles Porter for the opener before Tyler Watson poked home number two.

MoM Sam Sowter controlled the midfield, but Portslade pulled one back.

Ringmer secured victory when Watson set up sub Jo Robinson.

In the Mid Sussex Division 3 South Ringmer AFC thirds lost 1-0 at Wivelsfield Green.

In Division 5 South Ringmer AFC fourths won 5-0 at Hurstpierpoint threes.

Harry Denness scored two, with Kane Hockley, Noah Simmons-Botelho and James Peck also on target.

This week the first team go to AFC Uckfield Town Res, the seconds go to Cuckfield Rangers and the thirds and fourths are both at home, the first game starting at 1.15pm.
