Rye and Sidley part two

Rye United and Sidley United will go head-to-head again tonight (Monday).

Just seven days after the dramatic 2-2 draw at Gullivers, the Sussex County Football League Division One rivals will meet again at The Salts from 7.45pm.

Rye suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to Pagham on Saturday with Liam Upton scoring the consolation, while Sidley had a very good 1-0 victory at home to East Grinstead Town thanks to Kevin Barden’s second half strike.

Elsewhere at the weekend, Little Common made it three Division Two wins in a row with a 1-0 success at home to Midhurst & Easebourne. Jordan Wood claimed the only goal in the second half.

Bexhill United had to settle for a 2-2 draw at improving Steyning Town after James Doswell and Scott McDonald had put them two-up, while Westfield endured a third straight defeat as they went down 2-1 at Southwick.

Full reports on each of these games will appear in Friday’s Observers.

Also tonight, Little Common will take on Mile Oak in a Reserve Section Challenge Cup semi-final at Ringmer FC. Kick-off is 7.30pm.
