Rye hit by latest postponement

Rye United’s fixture backlog continues to get worse and worse after another postponement tonight (Tuesday).

The Quarterboys’ scheduled trip to Lingfield in Division One of the Sussex County Football League has been called-off due to a waterlogged pitch.

It means that Rye still have 20 league games and a minimum of three cup ties to play, and there are just nine Saturdays between now and the end of April.

Elsewhere, however, Sidley United’s game at home to Hailsham Town in the same division is due to go ahead. Kick-off at Gullivers is 7.45pm.

The Blues, currently 15th, will be eager to build on Saturday’s 3-0 win at Shoreham against a Hailsham side which is one place and three points behind them with three games in hand.

Chris Rea serves the final match of his three-game ban, but Sidley should otherwise be close to full strength with Lee Jules set to return.
