Sidley cruise and Rye can go top

Sidley United bounced back to form with a 4-0 victory at home to Shoreham last night (Tuesday).

The Blues atoned for the disappointing 2-0 loss away to Chichester City on Saturday with a comfortable win which puts them seventh in Sussex County Football League Division One.

New signing Bryce Masters put them ahead and the game was effectively over as a contest when Shoreham had a man sent-off for a foul on Scott McDonald and Chris Rea converted the resulting penalty.

Adam Day, pictured, made it 3-0 at half time and Casey Ham added the fourth in the first minute of the second half with his first Sidley goal at Gullivers.

With leaders Pagham being surprisingly held by Chichester last night, Rye United have the chance to go top of the table if they win at home to AFC Uckfield tonight (Wednesday).

Rye are currently three points behind Pagham - who they beat in a Sussex RUR Charity Cup third round tie at The Salts on Saturday - having played two more matches, although they have the edge on goal difference.

Luke Woodley is expected to start for Rye having made a goalscoring appearance as a substitute against Pagham. Kick-off at The Salts is 7.30pm and a summary of the match will appear on this website tonight.
