The Old Towners started their pre-season friendlies last Saturday with a match against local rivals West Hill Utd.

Tackleway started the quicker of the two sides and their early pressure was rewarded as prolific goalscorer Kale Williams opened his account for this season on 8 minutes.

Tackleway were dominating the play and it was no surprise when Nathan Tutt added a sublime finish to a pitch length passing movement to make it 2-0 after 16 minutes.

West Hill started to come into the game as the half progressed, but they were struggling with Tackleway's pass and move tactics, and it was no surprise when Toby Payne's trickery brought a foul from the West Hill defence and Kale Williams coolly dispatched the resultant penalty on 39 minutes.

The fourth goal was not long in coming as last season's top goal scorer Toby Payne was on the end of another flowing move on the stroke of half-time.

West Hill Utd forced some saves out of Luke Caister in the Tackleway goal, and eventually managed to get a consolation goal out of a mistake in the Tackleway defence.

Again Tackleway had some flowing moves during the second half and they were denied any further goals by some excellent saves by Jason Bone in the West Hill goal.

The game ended with a 4-1 victory for the Old Towners, who now move on next Saturday to play a friendly against the Mid Sussex Championship side Sovereign Saints.
