Two more sign up at Bexhill

Bexhill United’s signing spree has continued with two more proven Sussex County Football League performers.

Former Westfield and Rye United goalkeeper Dan Foster has put pen to paper and Ross Markham has elected to stay with the Division Two club.

Foster, who returned from Prague last weekend and is expected to be back for quite a while, made an impressive start to last season with Rye until being displaced by former Brighton & Hove Albion youngster Josh Pelling.

Markham caught the eye as a substitute in the friendly at Ferring on Saturday, even scoring from right-back. An accomplished ball player who can also play in midfield, Markham had trained with Lewes and Hastings United.

Joint manager Jamie Podmore said: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign someone like Fossie and it adds competition to a pool of already decent goalkeepers. Ross Markham was superb when he came on Saturday.”

Dan Hill, who hasn’t yet signed, scored twice as a half time substitute in the 5-2 victory over a fairly physical Ferring side, while Matt Dadswell and Nathan Harding bagged one apiece.

Bexhill are due to visit Combined Counties League Premier Division (equivalent of Sussex Division One) outfit Banstead Athletic in a hastily-arranged friendly tonight (Tuesday).
