United game off

Hastings United’s scheduled visit from Fleet Town tonight (Tuesday) has been postponed.

The Ryman League Championship Manager Cup fourth round tie has been called-off following a 10.30am pitch inspection.

It means that new United manager Jason Hopkinson will have to wait until next Monday - when Tonbridge Angels will travel to The Pilot Field in the league - for his first game in charge.

He has wasted no time, however, in making his first signing. Hopkinson has returned to former club Lewes to bring in young central defender Scott Manning, who has recently been on loan with United’s league rivals Aveley.

Elsewhere, there will be a lunchtime pitch inspection to see if Sidley United’s Sussex Senior Cup second round clash at home to Arundel can go ahead, although it is considered very doubtful.
