United late show nets friendly win

HASTINGS United struck twice late on to win 3-2 at home to Bromley in last night’s pre-season friendly at The Pilot Field.

The Blue Square South side had looked to be on their way to victory until substitute Dee Okojie levelled eight minutes from time.

Not long after Okojie was adjudged to have been brought down in the box and skipper Lee Carey tucked away the penalty.

Bromley dominated the early stages but it was the hosts who opened the scoring midway through the first half courtesy of a fine chipped finish from Bradley Goldberg.

Hakeem Araba got the South Londoners back on level terms on the half hour from the penalty spot before Aaron Rhule fired them in front 10 minutes into the second half.

Joe Winchester started in goal for the U’s after Matt Armstrong-Ford injured his knee in the warm-up. Tom Vickers also played alongside former United midfielder Anthony Storey.

Hastings: Winchester (Pelling), Cox, Manning, Storey, Ray (Benner), Jirbandey, Crellin, Ellis (Okojie), Vickers (Carey), Attwood (Camara), Goldberg (Howell).
