United won 1-0 away to fourth-placed Corinthian Casuals in Ryman Football League Division One South courtesy of a first half strike from Kiernan Hughes-Mason.

With most of the teams around them also winning, United remain sixth in the table - one point behind a Carshalton Athletic side which occupies the final play-off spot of fifth, but with a game in hand. United are also now only two points adrift of Casuals.

United travelled to Tolworth without a win in four games, whereas Casuals had beaten second-placed Dorking Wanderers and third-placed Greenwich Borough in their previous two outings.

But it was United who came away with the points after scoring the only goal of the afternoon in the 17th minute. A long free kick from goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley was nodded down and Hughes-Mason, having been restored to the starting line-up, netted United’s 106th league goal of the season.

United: Pidgeley, Butcher, Cruttwell, Emptage, Sobers, Rowe, Bodkin (Stannard 73), Johnson, Barnwell, Collin, Hughes-Mason. Subs not used: Akoto, Kieran, Smith, Nicholls. Attendance: 203.
