United set for Angels derby

Hastings United will contest one of their biggest games of the season tonight (Tuesday).

Tonbridge Angels will be in town for what is always one of the most eagerly-anticipated fixtures in both clubs’ Ryman Football League Premier Division programmes.

As if the match needed any extra spice, Tonbridge players John Beales, Fraser Logan and Ade Olorunda will return to the ground where they began the season. Olorunda could also come up against younger brother Tim.

Both teams need the points for differing reasons. Third-placed Tonbridge are targeting promotion, while fifth-bottom Hastings are hoping to stay up.

Hastings, whose match away to AFC Hornchurch on Saturday was postponed owing to a waterlogged pitch, will be without Sam Adams, while Seb Barton could make his debut in goal if Scott Chalmers-Stevens hasn’t recovered from a shoulder problem. Kick-off at The Pilot Field is 7.45pm.

Elsewhere tonight, Bexhill United will host Rye United in a Hastings & District FA Senior Cup semi-final. Kick-off at The Polegrove is 7.45pm.
